10=Awesome

She is 10, She has an attitude sometimes. She thinks shes cool (and she actually is, I think she gets it from me, lol). Ahhh, next year is jr. high. I don’t know how we even got here. I don’t want her to grow up, I want her to be my baby forever. The kids at school love her, and she is sweet and loving. They don’t love her because she is mean girl who acts cool, she is cool and loving,  thats why the kids love her. Thats why she will keep her friends.  At least the good ones…She is sooo smart, sometimes too smart. She already knows who the mean girls are, and warns her sister about them.  I am so proud of her, she plays in the band, sings in the chorus, reads her little sister books, helps with the dishes… We came across a situation recently where Kaya would have to choose to do the right thing, at the risk of being teased and embarrassed by other kids. I told her, the right thing is more important than what anyone thinks, including all of your classmates. I honestly didn’t know what she would do, she is such a people pleaser(which like every personality trait has its strengths and weaknesses). Anyways, she went to school the next day and she soothed a sweet boys broken heart with her kind words. I was so proud of her that day, and everyday for that matter. These things that seem so small compared to our adult lives, are actually big events to  children. The choices that they make everyday are building character that will last a lifetime. And once those strenths and weaknesses are ingrained, what a challenge to change! If I succeed at one thing in my life, it will be raising exceptional children. I am a Mom with a camera! And I don’t care what my peers thing about that:)
